Fun Activities To Do With The Kids To Relieve Boredom
‘Mom, I’m bored!’ ‘Dad, there’s nothing to do!’ How many times have you heard those statements from your children? Maybe it’s raining or too cold to play outside. Or you’re only a short way into summer vacation and the kids are already looking for something to do. Following are some ideas of fun things you can do to help relieve some of the boredom.
Have a day where the whole family stays in their sleepwear for the whole day. After breakfast, play some board games. Spend the afternoon watching a movie complete with popcorn. Leave the lights off when it gets dark and pretend you are camping. Cook some s’mores in your oven for a camping feel and then sit around in the dark and tell stories.
Help your children redecorate their bedroom. If cabin fever has set in, put the kids in the car and head to your local retail or home improvement store. Choose a new paint color for their room then check out the home decor accents section for a new lamp or mirror. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to give their room a new look and they will take pride in a room that they helped decorate.
Take a day to organize family pictures. Make a scrapbook with your children and let them create their own scrapbook pages. Give them stickers to decorate their pages with. Let them make their pages as simple or as creative as they want. As you sort through your pictures, talk with your children about the memories they have of the events captured in the pictures.
You could pretend you are visiting your area on vacation. Go to a local attraction that someone from out of town might visit. It can be a museum or art gallery that you have never been to or you could even visit you local city or state park. Pack a picnic lunch and let your children run and play. Maybe they will even meet a new friend!
Have your children put on a puppet play for the entire family. Let them use some old socks and let them make their own stage using construction paper. Later in the evening gather everyone for the performance.
There are many activities you can do with your children to relieve their boredom. Use one of these ideas or come up with your own for a fun-filled day your children will love.
